Alston Moor Golf Club is undoubtedly the highest golf course in England and possibly the United Kingdom. At 1476' asl and situated 15 miles south of the Roman Wall and located within an AONB, it offers spectacular views of the North Pennines. Currently 10 holes, par 68, sss 68, expansion is under way to full 18 hole par 70, 5800 yds, sss 70, completion Summer 2007.
The 15th century clubhouse offers full catering facilities and societies and groups are most welcome.
The Club was founded in 1906 and has occupied numerous sites over the years. The current site, The Hermitage, is situated 2 miles south of Alston on the B6277 and comprises 132 acres of parkland, high meadow and pasture land. With a small membership and remote location it is ideal for the golfer who likes playing the game at his own pace.
